Blondie’s Debbie Harry admits that she wishes she had written a Muse song. Harry made the admission as part of NME’s ‘Soundtrack Of My Life’ series. When she and guitarist Chris Stein were asked which song by another artist they wished they’d written. “Something from Muse I guess,” Harry told NME. “They have a marvelous sound that’s so distinctive, and beautiful songs.” Meanwhile, Stein replied: “I was just in my room playing ‘Going To A Town’ by Rufus Wainwright about five times in a row. It’s an amazing and moving piece of music.” Harry also dismissed the notion that she is a pop icon, saying she “should be dead” before that title is bestowed upon her. “The first time I heard that phrase was in the nineties, and I was sort of horrified. All I could think of was, you know, a religious figure or something. And, oh God, I can’t bear that. I don’t know if I believe that’s a good word for it. I think I like the idea of being a star, a superstar or a pop star. It seems more in keeping with your real, relative value. Icon is like, you need to die first, right? You should be dead and then you can become an icon. And I’m not dead yet.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
