Legendary singer, songwriter, actor and record producer, Lionel Richie will be honored at the 23rd annual Power of Love gala at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on March 16. The gala, put on by charity Keep Memory Alive, is said to include many musical surprises and guest appearances. At the event, Lonnie Ali, the wife of the late Muhammad Ali, will also be presented the Keep Memory Alive Caregiver Hero Award. During this Sunday’s edition of “American Idol,” Richie will share his memories about the boxing legend. “Muhammad Ali was an incredible icon to the world but also we were great friends,” Richie told ABC Radio. “So he gave me some great life lessons in terms of getting knocked down and standing back up and, y’know, when you face adversity, you turn around and say, ‘I can do this,'” he added.
