No Doubt Settle Suit With Activision

No Doubt has reportedly settled their lawsuit against gaming firm Activision over the use of their likeness in the video game Band Hero. The group had originally agreed to have their avatars included in the game, but alleged they had no knowledge that users would be able to unlock the avatars and play other artists music with them.

The band filed suits on charges of fraud, violation of public privacy and breach of contract. They publicly claimed that the game turned frontwoman Gwen Stefani into a "virtual karaoke circus act."

One specific issue cited in the suit was the use of Stefani's avatar to sing a cover of the Rolling Stone's "Honky Tonk Woman." They say the option "results in an unauthorized performance by the Gwen Stefani avatar in a male voice boasting about having sex with prostitutes."

The settlement comes just weeks before the case was scheduled to go to a trial before a jury. Thus far no details about the settlement have been disclosed.
