Christina Aguilera Fights World Hunger In Washington

Christina Aguilera was honored by the U.S. State Department for her efforts in the fight against world hunger at an event in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday (October 3).

The Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, presented the award to The Voice mentor/judge, joking that she, Clinton, wished to be a singer so that she could join Aguilera's team on the popular program.

Aguilera, in her 13 years as an advocate in the war on poverty, has helped raise cash for the United Nation's World Food programs and other charitable organizations.

"It was amazing to see that women are building their own businesses because it really starts with that, a foundation to build from and pass onto their children," Aguilera said of a recent trip to Guatemala in conjunction with the World Food Program.
