Alicia Keys Flips The Switch On New Empire State Building Lights

Alicia Keys helped unveil the new high-tech lighting display at the Empire State Building in New York City earlier this week. The iconic tower's spire now features an LED-based lighting system, the color changes of which may be synchronized to music.

Keys was on hand at the building to flip an oversized switch illuminating the new light system to the sounds of her New York anthem "Empire State of Mind." Her new track "Girl on Fire" was also synched with the light system.

"The Empire State Building has always been a symbol of what's possible in New York, and all the dreams that can come true in this city that never sleeps," Keys said in a statement.

"I'm so excited to unveil the new tower lights that are going to illuminate the city below like never before-shining bright with inspiration. As a proud New Yorker, I'm so honored and humbled to be a little part of its history."
