Alicia Keys To Honor Oprah At Black Ball Event

Alicia Keys has confirmed that she will pay tribute to Oprah Winfrey at her annual Black Ball event. The event benefits Keys' Keep A Child Alive campaign was canceled earlier this fall due to Hurricane Sandy.

This year's event has been rescheduled for December 6 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, where Winfrey will be toasted for her commitment to philanthropy.

"Hurricane Sandy taught us all that, when disaster strikes, people don't turn away, they turn it up," says Keys in the announcement.

"We saw this in the outpouring of generosity and incredible acts of kindness after the storm. In Africa and India where Keep a Child Alive works, HIV is a disaster that's tearing families apart every day. And while it would be easier to turn away right now, with all that has happened in my hometown, it would be disastrous for the children who count on us for survival. So for them, we're going to turn it up - and turn it out at the Black Ball REDux!" she added.
