Stevie Wonder Drops Out Of Concert For Israeli Soldiers

Stevie Wonder, whom it was announced last week was set to perform at a Los Angeles benefit for Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, says he has dropped the gig owing to the "delicate situation in the Middle East."

". . . and with a heart that has always cried out for world unity, I will not be performing at the F.I.D.F. gala. I am and have always been against war, any war, anywhere."

Wonder added he would make contributions to charities that support Israeli and Palestinian children with disabilities.

The event will be hosted by Cheryl and Haim Saban and is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 members of the Los Angeles Jewish community. The gala is considered one of the organization's flagship events and is known to raise millions of dollars.
