Michael Stipe Joins 'Christmas Carol Week' On Colbert Report

Michael Stipe showed his holiday spirit when he helped Stephen Colbert continue his "Christmas Carol Week" this past Wednesday on The Colbert Report.

The former R.E.M. singer was joined by actor Mandy Patinkin as they traded off verses on "Good King Wenceslas." The duo was also joined on the tune by Colbert himself.

Stipe recently begrudgingly joined Coldplay's Chris Martin onstage for an acoustic duet of R.E.M.'s classic, "Losing My Religion," at the star-packed 12-12-12 Sandy benefit concert.

Next up on "Christmas Carol Week," Colbert will sing John Lennon's classic political song, "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)," and will be joined by Lennon's son Sean, as well as Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Mavis Staples. Tweedy and Staples are also currently working together on the soul singer's new studio album, a sequel to her previous release, You Are Not Alone, also produced by Tweedy.
