Madonna's MDNA Tour Highest Grossing Of 2012

Madonna's MDNA tour has been named the highest grossing of 2012. The 72-date trek, which launched in Israel in May and will end this Saturday in Argentina, raked in $228,406,085. All 72 dates were sell-outs, netting 1.6 million paying audience members.

Perhaps one of the reasons Madge was able to reach the top of this list was the number of controversial moments that emerged while she was on the road.

In France, she was booed for a short set, while in Denver she brandished a fake gun on stage after the Colorado shootings in July; and, in Russia, she angered fans by handing out pink anti-homophobia wristbands.

Behind Madonna on the highest grossing tour list was Bruce Springsteen, who grossed $199,371,791 from 72 shows, 54 of which were sold out. Third on the list was former Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters, who made $186,466,703 from the 72 dates of his The Wall Live tour.
