New Eric Clapton Album, Old Socks, Coming In March

Eric Clapton has announced that he will release a new album on March 12, titled Old Socks. The 12-song set will be Clapton's 21st album over the course of his nearly 50 year career. The album will feature a collection of Clapton's favorite songs by other songwriters, including Leadbelly, J.J. Cale, Peter Tosh, George Gershwin, Hank Snow and Taj Mahal.

Clapton has produced the album, alongside Doyle Bramhall II, Justin Stanley and Simon Climie. Playing alongside Clapton are some of his longtime collaborators, including Steve Gadd (drums), Willie Weeks (bass) and Chris Stainton (keyboards).

The LP will also feature a number of surprise guests like Cale, who's on the song "Angel" for backing vocals and guitar, Chaka Khan, who sings as backing vocalist for "Get On Over," Steve Winwood, who plays the Hammond B3 Organ on "Still Got The Blues," and Paul McCartney, who provides bass/vocals on "All of Me."

Ultimate Classic Rock reports that Old Socks will be released on CD and as a 2-LP set.
