Sony Sues Swedish Man Over Beyoncé Album Leak

Sony has filed a lawsuit against a man in Gothenburg, Sweden for allegedly leaking a copy of Beyoncé's album, 4, before its release date two years ago. The unnamed man may be a music industry insider, according to NME, and could be forced to pay as much as $233,000.

According to TorrentFreak, the leak hit on June 8, 2011, although the album was scheduled to drop on June 24. The suit has been filed with the Gothenburg District Court, and Sony is seeking damages for both sales losses and loss of resources from their marketing campaign.

The diskery also claims that the leak damaged its relationship with the R&B mega-star and may have severely hurt her reputation in Sweden.
