Katy Perry Plans On Releasing 'More Mature' Album

Katy Perry is currently working on songs for her follow-up to Teenage Dream with songwriting pal Bonnie McKee, the latter of whom recently told MTV that the two are working on more "mature" tunes:

"I'm really excited for the world to hear it because she's just . . . she's taking a new approach. And I don't want to say too much about it, but it's definitely different. It's definitely a little more mature than the California Gurls of yesterday."

McKee-who co-wrote "Teenage Dream," "Last Friday Night (TGIF)," "Part of Me" and "California Gurls"-added that the two are simpatico when it comes to music and life:

"Katy and I are really similar. That's kind of how we became friends. We met at Wasteland on Melrose, a thrift store. We just are totally on the same level . . . We're just soulmates in that way, I guess."

There's currently no timetable for Perry's upcoming record.
