Michael Stipe Thrilled Jay-Z Used R.E.M. Lyrics For Magna Carta

Jay-Z's decision to use R.E.M. lyrics on his latest album Magna Carta Holy Grail has a big supporter in Michael Stipe.

The R.E.M. frontman said that he is thrilled that Jay used lyrics from his song "Losing My Religion" on his new song "Heaven."

"I've known Jay for a long time, he's super cool, super grounded, super smart and super talented," Stipe told NME. "I've always had the deepest respect for him, and his music and choices. We're thrilled (for our lyrics) to be included, it's a really great honor."

Magna Carta Holy Grail has broken records in the United States, becoming Spotify's most streamed album in one week, beating out records previously set by the likes of Daft Punk and Mumford and Sons with over 14 million streams since its release.
