Beyoncé Covers 'A Change Is Gonna Come' For Detroit

Beyoncé offered up a special tribute to the people of Detroit, covering the classic Sam Cooke track, "A Change Is Gonna Come," during a recent performance at the Palace at Auburn Hills in Michigan. The performance came as part of her Mrs. Carter tour.

The cover choice came just days after officials in the Motor City announced that they had filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection.

Along with the track she displayed a montage of photographs showing some the city's best musical talents, including Aretha Franklin, Aaliyah, Eminem, Anita Baker, Kid Rock and Berry Gordy, Jr.

The montage ended with the inspiring message, "Nothing Stops Detroit."

"This was a unique tribute to the history of an incredible city and a celebration of the strong spirit of its people," Bey's spokesperson told Billboard.
