Roger Pope, Drummer For Elton John, Dies At 66

Elton John drummer Roger Pope has died at the age of 66. Pope passed away last week in a nursing home in the south of England, reports Contact Music.

Pope first lent his skills to John's music on the Rocket Man's debut album Empty Sky. He would go on to appear on six more albums and also toured as part of his backing band.

The veteran drummer also performed or recorded with Hall & Oates, Sir Cliff Richard, Buddy Guy, Kiki Dee, Al Stewart, Hookfoot (a band he co-founded), and Harry Nilsson.

The Kent, England, native is survived by his wife Sue, whom he married shortly before his death.
