Carrie Underwood To Be Featured On Sound Of Music Soundtrack

Carrie Underwood has secured a spot on the soundtrack to NBC's upcoming live production of The Sound of Music. The three hour special airs December 5, while the OST, The Sound of Music -- Music From the NBC Television Event, hits December 3.

Underwood is featured in the film's lead role of Maria von Trapp. The other major cast members-Audra McDonald, Stephen Moyer, Christian Borle and Laura Benati-are also featured on the soundtrack.

Carrie's role was famously played by Julie Andrews in the original 1965 production, while Moyer (True Blood) takes over the role previously filled by Christopher Plummer.

"After [The Sound of Music], I feel like I can really buckle down and start working on the next album," Underwood told Billboard after wrapping the production this summer.
