With trendsetting styles, choreographed dance moves and heartbreaking smiles, boy bands have been a dominate force in pop culture for decades. The Jackson 5, Menudo, Boyz II Men, The Beatles, and New Kids On The Block are just some of the boy bands that have ruled music charts over the last 60 years. But one of the most notable times for boy bands was the late 1990s and early 2000s.

From the unapologetic words of NSYNC to the smooth style of O-Town, here’s our list of unforgettable boy band songs from the turn of the century.

01) “I Want It That Way” – The Backstreet Boys

Known as the anthem of all boy bands for years now. A survey was conducted in 2013 that voted “I Want It That Way” the number one boy band single since 1998.

02) “Bye Bye Bye” – Nsync

Thanks to songs like “Bye Bye Bye”, Billboard named Nsync’s album “No Strings Attached” one of the best selling albums of the 2000s.

03) “Gone” – Nsync

“Gone” was the first song that ever made Justin Timberlake consider going solo. Timberlake later elaborated in an interview that he originally wrote the song for Michael Jackson, but was rejected. As a result the King of Pop changed his mind and wanted to work with Timberlake, on the condition that it would be without the group Nsync.

04) “As Long As You Love Me” – The Backstreet Boys

The lyrics of “As Long As You Love Me” wraps around one of members of the boy band that was struggling with a relationship in his life and confessed to his girlfriend that he will only be okay as long as “he had her love.”

05) “All Or Nothing” – 0-Town

Reaching an all time high “All or Nothing” was debuted as one of the best singles on the hot charts in the U.S. O-Town was one of those boy bands that came out of nowhere, up until this point it was a battle for the number one spot between Nsync and Backstreet boys.

06) “Because Of You – 98 Degrees

90’s heartthrob, Nick Lachey stole the hearts of millions of women as he sang his heart out to this single, asking someone out there to be his sunshine after the rain. And if you agree with me, then I’m sure almost any girl would volunteer to be his sunshine.

07) “Its Gunna Be Me” – Nsync

Director Wayne Isham produced the content for the music video with Nsync as action figures in boxes that break free, although this has nothing to do with the lyrics of the song, it was a big hit among fans.

08) “When The Lights Go Out” – 5ive

The british pop group was well known for their optimism and spunky character. “When The Lights Go Out” is what they are best known for in the U.S, remaining in the top 30 for a consecutive seven weeks after the song was released.

09)”Liquid Dreams” – O-Town

O-Town took this song as a chance of appreciating being in the limelight and flipped it around on the names of the big stars they met during their journey through Hollywood. I’m sure the women mentioned in the song wouldn’t mind the extra attention given.

10) “Larger Than Life” – The Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet boys devoted “Larger Than Life” to the their fans for all the encouragement and support they received through the years. The song is most known for its memorable lyrics and catchy melody.
