Billy Joel welcomed some special guests to the stage during his recent show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The show came as part of his ongoing residency at the legendary arena and this month Joel welcomed John Mellencamp, along with Felix Cavaliere and Gene Cornish of the Young Rascals. The Rascals joined Joel for a cover of their classic hit “Good Lovin'” while Mellencamp hit the stage for a rendition of “Authority Song.” Billy also made recent headlines when he opened up about his favorite back catalogue tunes in interview with Stephen Colbert. In the interview he revealed that “Vienna,” “And So It Goes,” “You May Be Right,” “She’s Right On Time” and “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant” are his top five choices and also joked about a fictitious backstory to “Piano Man.” “‘Piano Man’ was originally a superhero character . and I wanted to make a movie where he teamed up with Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’ to fight Bob Dylan’s ‘Tambourine Man,'” he quipped in the segment.
