Cher has reportedly requested the dismissal of a lawsuit involving the typeface used on her 2013 release Closer to the Truth. The singer, along with Warner Bros. Records, Ganesh Productions, Smog Design Inc., and Ryan Corey, are all facing a suit from font designer Moshik Nadav. Nadav claims that Cher and others knocked off a typeface he designed called Paris Logo for use on the album cover. His suit claims that he’s a visible figure in the typeface world and that his font has “artistic elements such as swashes having various thicknesses, end drops and unique lettering that provide… an aesthetic look and feel that Nadav’s clients, graphic designers and the public at large associate with Nadav and his business, Moshik Nadav Typography LLC.” In their motion to dismiss the defense writes: “The Paris and Paris Pro Logos share just one letter with the Cher Logos – an ‘r,'” states the motion to dismiss. “In addition, Plaintiffs’ attempts to rely on other letters included within the Paris typeface (but not in the Paris or Paris Pro Logos) to support their infringement claim is improper and unavailing.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com.
