Alicia Keys has opened up on the inspiration behind her hit track “If I Ain’t Got You.” The song held the top spot on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for six weeks in 2004 and she recently revealed that it is one of her “favorite songs ever” from her back catalogue. “A lot of people have sung it on the show, which I super, super love,” she says. “I actually wrote it after I heard that Aaliyah passed away. I was on a plane, and I think being on the plane and knowing she passed away after a plane crash, it was this sentiment of being present in a moment and nothing else mattering but those that you love.” She went on to explain that production on the track went “really quickly.” Despite that, it still came out exactly as she hope and she says that it was a real “labor of love.” Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com.
