Fans of R.E.M. have raised $82,000 for a touring member of the band, named Scott McCaughey. The guitarist, who toured with the band between 1994 and 2011, recently suffered a stroke and was amongst the millions of Americans without sufficient health insurance to cover the costs. Fans quickly rallied behind the man, starting a GoFundMe page and writing: “He is still in ICU and has a long, difficult road ahead to recovery, but with his unsinkable spirit (and with time and hard work) we know that he’ll come back from this and be back in your town rocking soon.” In addition to his work with R.E.M. he has fronted The Young Fresh Fellows and The Minus 5 and appeared in a group called the Baseball Project with R.E.M.’s Peter Buck. He also played bass for Robyn Hitchcock’s The Venus Three. Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
