Donna Summer’s musical is set to make its debut on Broadway in April. The show, titled Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, will be helmed by former Jersey Boys helmer Des McAnuff and will open at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for previews on March 28. News of the show first broke last fall when workshops were held and opened up to the public. In the workshop, the role of Donna Summer was played by Ariana DeBose, who has previously appeared in both Hamilton and the Broadway musical Motown. Two more actors will portray Summer at different stages of her life: through childhood, superstardom during disco’s heyday and in her later years, according to reports. Summer, who was born in Boston in 1948, died in Naples, Florida in 2012 of lung cancer. She was 63. Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
