Keith Urban paid tribute to a few of the music legends we lost in 2017 at Nashville’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. Urban, who also headlined the event last year, maintained the tribute tradition this year by honoring Tom Petty, Chris Cornell, and more. Just before midnight he embarked on a lengthy medley including songs from many of the greats lost over the last year. To honor Cornell, he kicked off the medley with the opening to “Black Hole Sun” and continued on with sections of Gregg Allman’s “Midnight Rider,” Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode,” Don Williams’ “Tulsa Time,” and “Back in Black” as a tribute to Malcolm Young of AC/DC. The medley wrapped with Petty’s “Free Fallin.” The new year will be jammed packed for Urban, who is set to headline the Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in April and Stagecoach in Indio, California.
