R.E.M. members Mike Mills and Peter Buck took part in a fund raising show for their former touring member Scott McCaughrey, who suffered a stroke last year. The show took place in Portland and also featured appearances by the Shins as well as M. Ward. News of his stroke swept the web after his wife launched a GoFundMe page to help raise money for his recovery. In her note, she added: “He is still in ICU and has a long, difficult road ahead to recovery, but with his unsinkable spirit (and with time and hard work) we know that he’ll come back from this and be back in your town rocking soon.” Fans helped quickly raise of $80,000 for the rock veteran.
