John Mellencamp’s real estate portfolio has grown larger following the purchase of a ‘stylishly renovated’ 1,800-square foot live-work space in the consumer-packed SoHo neighborhood in Manhattan. The Real Deal reports that Mellencamp bought the first floor apartment from photographer Antoine Verglas for $2.3 million. The “Jack and Diane” singer already owns several homes, prominent among these being an 8,000 square foot lakefront mansion in Bloomington and an oceanfront residence on Daufuskie Island in South Carolina. Mellencamp is expected to spend some time in the new Manhattan pad in the coming months. The two-bedroom apartment also has a windowless art studio, which will no doubt be put to good use. In addition to his musical career, Mellencamp is also an accomplished painter. The singer’s daughter Teddi Jo Mellencamp, who is part of the cast in reality TV’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was also in the news recently, after she acquired a property in Los Angeles’ Mount Olympus neighborhood for $4.07 million.
