Lorde has thanked her fans for their support in a full-page ad in the New Zealand Herald. The pop star was one of the only Album of the Year nominees at this year’s Grammys who was not offered a performance slot at this year’s event. Rumors have swirled that she declined after being relegated to a brief appearance in the Tom Petty tribute. She thanked fans for their support of female artists in a male dominated industry: “[Sunday] night I saw a lot of crazy & wonderful things,” she wrote. “I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for loving & embracing ‘Melodrama’ the way you did. My nomination belongs to you. Thank you, also, for believing in female musicians. You set a beautiful precedent!” She did say that some celebrity encounters were worth the visit to New York: “Jay-Z’s hands are really soft” and “I met Stevie Nicks and almost cried.” Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com.
