Fergie’s rendition of the National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game over the weekend is being hailed by some as the ‘worst rendition ever.’ The ‘sultry’ and bluesy version of the song drew snickers from both the crowd and the players on the sidelines. During halftime, after Shaquille O’Neal called Fergie’s rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” “sexy,” Charles Barkley said that he “needed a cigarette” following the performance. During the performance, a “low chuckle rumbled through the sold-out” Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reported, with the crowd cheering as the song finally reached the end. Players like Golden State Warriors’ forward Draymond Green could be seen visibly laughing on camera.
