Bob Seger has released the lyric video for the title track to his latest studio album I Knew You When, dedicating it to his late friend, Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey. The clip features a series of animated black-and-white sketches based on photos of Frey at different ages. The final image shows Seger with his arm around Frey’s shoulders. The album consists of tracks inspired by Glenn or boasting themes reflecting Seger’s relationship with him. I Knew You When was released last year and the expanded edition included “Glenn Song,” a direct tribute to Frey, marking how they’d grown up together in the Detroit music scene of the ’60s. Seger pays homage to other late songwriters Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed as well, by covering their respective songs “Democracy” and “Busload of Faith.” Seger, who had to postpone the last 19 dates of his 2017 fall tour due to a ruptured disc in his neck, is hoping to return to the road by the spring.
