Fans of Beatles legend John Lennon can look forward to an exhibition that will explore the personal and creative chemistry he shared with his wife Yoko Ono. The announcement about the exhibition, Double Fantasy, which will take place between May 18, 2018 and April 22, 2019 at the Museum of Liverpool, was made earlier this week on the 49th wedding anniversary of John and Yoko. The exhibition is part of Liverpool’s celebration of 10 years since being European Capital of Culture 2008. Besides the objects used by the couple, including their wedding outfits, John’s rimmed glasses and rare Sardonyx guitar used by him, the exhibition will also display art, music and film produced by them. Hand-written lyrics by John Lennon, including “In My Life”, “Give Peace a Chance”, “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” and “Woman” will also be displayed at the exhibition. Yoko Ono said, “I am so happy and grateful that we are having our Double Fantasy – John & Yoko show in John’s birthplace Liverpool.” “We found that we were both very strongly interested in world peace. I feel John and I are still working together. I always feel his warmth next to me,” and added, “John would be very happy too.” Through interviews, quotes and lyrics, the story of their personal and creative relationship along with their political activism and peace campaigning, will be told in their own words for the very first time. The Director of the Exhibition for National Museums Liverpool, Sharon Granville said the exhibition, which will tell the intimate story of the couple’s relationship and work, has been set against a backdrop of the volatile late 1960s – Vietnam War, civil rights protests and social unrest and revolution across Europe and the USA.
