UMG has been hit with a copyright lawsuit over Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s hit single “Side to Side,” alleging it copied a similar-sounding track by Christopher R. O’Connor called “J5 (T6).” In the lawsuit, O’Connor claims that someone from UMG Recordings discovered his song “J5 (T6)” and had Minaj and Grande copy it on “Side to Side.” O’Connor says that he also reached out to UMG about the alleged copyright violation and was instructed to send in a demo, but the company didn’t address his accusation of song stealing. O’Connor also believes that UMG has found more of his songs online and used them to produce other copies, by artists like Mike Shinoda and Taylor Swift. He’s suing UMG, not specifically Grande or Minaj, asking for royalties from “Side To Side” and a song-writing credit. Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
