Nile Rodgers announced that he is planning a new joint album with Sergio Mendes. The two recently met for the first time while on tour in Australia. Rodgers is touring with The Chic Organization with Lionel Richie, while Mendes is also touring across the country. “But I have to say I’ll miss #Australia. It’s been other worldly,” Rodgers tweeted. “But I did get to meet the genius @sergiomendes for the 1st time and we’re going to make a record together.” For his career, Mendes has over 55 releases and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2012 as co-writer of the song “Real in Rio” from the animated film Rio.
