Paramount Pictures will release a film on Sir Elton John on May 17, 2019. Rocketman is based on his early rise to stardom through to his recovery from drug and alcohol addiction in the 1990s. Shooting of the film will begin in August. Kingsman actor Taron Egerton will be playing Sir Elton in the movie, directed by Dexter Fletcher. Egerton has made it clear that Rocketman is not a biopic. “We are making a movie called Rocketman about Elton John’s formative years. Everyone thinks it’s a biopic. It isn’t”. “It’s a fantasy musical so it’s actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments. He’s not the only character that sings.
