Steven Tyler And Joe Perry Nominated For A Tony Award

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have received a nomination for a 2018 Tony Award for their work on the soundtrack for SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical. The Aerosmith singer and guitarist wrote an original song titled “Bikini Bottom Boogie” for the show, which received a nod for Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre. “SpongeBob SquarePants” opened on December 4, 2017 after a well-received 2016 world-premiere. The Broadway musical based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series received 11 other Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. It tied the Mean Girls musical for the most nominations this year. The 72nd annual award ceremony will be held on June 10, and CBS will broadcast it live from Radio City Music Hall at 8 p.m. ET.
