Mariah Carey is currently in the studio working on new music. Since she opened her Butterfly Returns residency at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace, she has been spotted in the studio with Jermaine Dupri and producer Bobby Ross Avila. Avila shared a photo with Carey, writing, “Pulled an all nighter @ the studio with my bro’s @jermainedupri, @therealjohntaaustin, Mariah and the Magic was in FULL EFFECT!” Carey also teased the coming of a new album in a March interview with V magazine, saying that “there’s a different approach that I’m taking as an artist. I think it’s like a fresh start.” She continued to say that while most people see her as a diva, she sees herself as “a songwriter first, and then a singer.
