The premiere of new Elton John documentary Rocketman has been pushed back two weeks. It will now make its debut on May 31, according to Paramount. The pic stars Taron Egerton as the iconic singer with Matthew Vaughn producing. Rocketman, which was written by Lee Hall, follows John’s rise from being a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a breakout rock legend with his 1972 album Honky Chateau and its 1973 follow-up Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The film was directed by Dexter Fletcher. Jamie Bell will portray John’s longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin and Bryce Dallas Howard will play John’s mother Sheila. Come next May, the debut of Rocketman will now go up against Warner Bros. Godzilla: King of the Monsters and an Untitled Blumhouse Project from Universal, Deadline reports.
