Tim McGraw and Lori McKenna have written a song for the upcoming National Geographic documentary Free Solo. McGraw shared the news about the track, titled “Gravity,” on Twitter and Instagram, accompanied by a video of the track. “Proud to let you know about a song I wrote with the amazing @LoriMckennaMA. “Gravity” is for the documentary ‘Free Solo’ about @alexhonnold and his pursuit to free solo climb El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Can’t wait to see this one in theaters this fall.” Free Solo tells the story of a terrifying and inspiring attempt by mountaineer Alex Honnald, who sets out to scale the 3,200-foot vertical granite peak El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without a rope. “There are few people who pursue their passion with the fearlessness of Alex Honnold,” McGraw said in a statement. “It’s both terrifying and exhilarating to be on that journey with him when you watch Free Solo, he said about the film, scheduled to release on September 28. Lori McKenna and I wanted the lyric of ‘Gravity’ to be a reminder that fear is a battle fought on a variety of planes, from mental to spiritual to physical,” he added. We tend to think ‘fearlessness’ is synonymous with big bold gestures, but there’s also a fragility inherent in risk – and we wanted that to come through,” according to the singer-songwriter.
