Elton John paid tribute to Mac Miller and Aretha Franklin as his final world tour kicked off in Allentown, Philadelphia, on Saturday. During a break in the three-hour long session, the living music legend dedicated a rendition of his classic “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” in memory of the hip hop star. Malcolm McCormick, popularly known as Mac Miller, died of an apparent drug overdose on September 7 at his Studio City, California, home. “I would like to dedicate this song to Mac Miller, who unbelievably, at 26 years of age, passed away yesterday. It’s inconceivable that someone as young that has so much talent can do that. I would like to pass all of our love and best wishes to his loved ones, his family, his friends. And Mac, wherever you are, I hope you are happy now,” John said. He also paid his respects to Aretha Franklin by performing his “Border Song.” John is scheduled to conduct more than 300 stage shows over the next three years as part of his farewell tour.
