Paul Simon wrapped up his Homeward Bound: The Farewell Tour on Saturday, with a concert at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, not far away from where he played high school baseball. The music legend, who netted 21 Billboard Hot 100 hits and two Grammy album of the year wins in his career, began his farewell concert with “America,” the Simon & Garfunkel classic from Bookends. He then performed his solo No. 1 hit “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” and followed that with “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,” with his wife Edie Brickell, whistling along on the stage. Simon had the audience dancing along as he played “You Can Call Me Al.” “The Boy in the Bubble,” from Graceland, and S&G classics “Mother and Child Reunion” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” were among the other songs her performed at the concert. He concluded the concert with “The Sound of Silence.” Simon said, “I anticipate doing the occasional performance in a (hopefully) acoustically pristine hall and to donate those earnings to various philanthropic organizations, particularly those whose objective is to save the planet, ecologically.” Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com.
