Maroon 5 paid tribute to the late Aretha Franklin during their Red Pill Blues Tour show at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday. Frontman Adam Levine and guitarist James Valentine played an acoustic encore version of “She Will Be Loved.” “I’m sure this city’s heard a lot of this, but — Aretha Franklin, baby! We love you. We miss you. We thank you for everything. Greatest ever… Everybody else looks stupid, that’s how great she was,” he told the crowd, and dedicated the song to “all the ladies” in the house. During the 40-minute show, Maroon 5 also played “What Lovers Do,” “This Love,” “Don’t Wanna Know,” “Maps,” “Harder To Breathe,” “Misery,” “Sunday Morning” and “Animals.” Franklin, who had long been suffering from cancer, died at the age of 76 in Detroit on August 16.
