In a recent interview with Billboard, Rascall Flatts member Jay DeMarcus revealed that he is launching Red Street Record, his brand-new Christian Music label. “It’s been a long time coming,” said DeMarcus. “With Christian music in particular, I feel the real estate is wide open for a new company to come in that really is unconventional and not beholden to a larger label that is controlled by a larger label and has to move slowly.” Speaking about his Christian roots, DeMarcus added that he, “grew up in the church and loved contemporary Christian music. I go back to the early days of when it first started with the likes of Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. Those people that really pioneered are heroes of mine.” Longtime associate, Don Koch has been hired as the general manager of the music label, which has already signed two Christian music makers, Avalon and Lauren James.
