Steve Perry’s Traces has earned him the highest debut ranking on the charts of his solo career. Traces debuted at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, with opening week sales of 73,000 units, mostly in traditional album sales. It also marks Perry’s best debut in the U.K., Germany, Canada and Japan. Perry produced Traces with Thom Flowers at his home studio and at Capitol Records. The LP was released via Fantasy Records. The former Journey frontman’s long-awaited solo album comes after a gap of nearly 25 years. It is his third solo release, following Street Talk and For The Love Of Strange Medicine. “All I was hoping for was someone to listen to the emotional expression of these new songs after my years of absence,” Perry said in a statement. “This has been beyond my wildest dreams, and I thank you all so very much,” he added.
