Brian Wilson has recorded a remake of his 1988 song “Love and Mercy” in collaboration with an organization that provides music education to young girls in impoverished areas. The Miraculous Love Kids is a music group founded by American musician Lanny Cordola for Afghan children affected by the violence in their country. Cordola started a project called Girl With a Guitar, which features a girl named Mursal as its frontwoman. Mursal’s two sisters were killed in a suicide bombing in 2012. “Love and Mercy” is a tribute to them and other child victims of Afghan war and poverty. A music video for “Love and Mercy” was filmed in Los Angeles and Kabul, showing Mursal, Cordola and other girls playing their guitars and singing with Wilson. Wilson said he is glad music makes the children feel love and mercy. “That’s what the music’s all about: making you feel happy,” the former Beach Boy said in a statement.
