Mariah Carey revealed during her appearance on The Tonight Show on Friday that she was surprised after the soundtrack to Glitter topped the iTunes Top 10 albums chart 17 years after its release. In the show starring Jimmy Fallon, Carey discussed “#JusticForGlitter,” a movement started by her fan army to popularize the 2001 movie soundtrack that had failed miserably at the time. “Actually #JusticeForGlitter was directed at me because I never do songs from that soundtrack,” Carey told Fallon. “The film “almost ruined my life. It was a tough time when it came out. It was a whole thing, it was a drama I don’t want to get into because it will change the mood. The fact that Glitter even came back as a thing, it’s a thing.” “Whoever thought it was going to get to No. 1, all these years later?” she added. “But it is a good album and the fans made it happen. I had nothing to do with it. The Lambily got behind it. . it’s a movement, it’s bigger than me.” The album got into the iTunes top 10 list last week, beating new releases by Lil Wayne, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, John Legend, Drake and Eminem, to eventually hit the No. 1 spot.
