R. Kelly is reportedly under criminal investigation, after Lifetime’s docuseries Surviving R. Kelly aired its finale episode on January 5. According to TMZ, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has opened an investigation into allegations made against the singer. The report says the probe was launched based on Surviving R. Kelly. Investigators have been reaching out to several survivors featured in the TV project. TMZ confirmed that investigators reached out to Asante McGee, one of the women who allegedly escaped R. Kelly’s home. Surviving R. Kelly is a Lifetime miniseries documenting the shocking allegations of sex crimes against the famed Chicago singer. R. Kelly was accused in 2017 of holding several women against their will in a “sex cult.” R. Kelly was also accused of having had sex with Aaliyah when she was 15 years old.
