Vic Oyedeji, founder of Unstrippedvoice and the creator of a petition calling on artists to back out of their scheduled performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, has changed direction with a new update asking for the pop rock band Maroon 5 to take a knee in protest. Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi are going to perform in the middle of the February 3 football game. “I’m saying the only way for them to preserve their reputation is to take a knee during their set to show the hundreds of millions of people watching their solidarity with Colin Kaepernick and the players who are protesting police brutality,” Vic Oyedeji told Billboard. Rihanna reportedly turned down an invitation to perform at the Super Bowl in support of Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who has been exiled from the NFL because of his decision to kneel during the national anthem.
