Just days after receiving severe criticism for praying for controversial R&B singer R. Kelly during a concert, Erykah Badu has sparked another controversy by engaging in a heated Twitter exchange with the executive producer of the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries. Badu and Dream Hampton, the executive producer of the series, engaged in a war of words on Twitter over whether the singer was invited to appear in the documentary. The heated Twitter war began with Badu replying to a user, who claimed the veteran singer had previously worked with Kelly and had been asked to appear in the six-part series but declined the invitation. “That’s not true,” Badu responded. “I’ve never worked with him, don’t know him personally, and was never asked to be a part of the documentary.” However, Dream Hampton replied to the message, “I asked Producer T. Farris to contact @fatbellybella to be in doc because I wanted clarity on two things: 1) a quote attributed to her, ‘No one has done more for Black people than R. Kelly’ & 2) what she was thinking when she called him her ‘brother’ at Soul Train Awards.” However, Badu again denied that she was invited to appear in the series and asked the producer to apologize for the allegation. “No ma’am. I WAS NOT EVER contacted by anyone to be in documentary. @dreamhampton You know that’s not true. I wasn’t a necessary component. You had all the right people, the ones close to the situation…But for now, produce this ‘producer’s’ request or… APOLOGIZE. It’s simple.” Hampton responded, “Apologize? Are you kidding? Again, you PUBLICLY said he did more for black people than anyone? I f you want to apologize for that, fine, apology accepted, on behalf of Harriet and the whole crew. What you meant by calling him your brother from the stage, I’ll never know.” During her performance on stage at the Aragon Ballroom last Saturday, Badu told fans that she was going to pray for Kelly. She received boos from the audience and was severely criticized on the internet. “I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about,” she said. “I hope he sees the light of day and comes forward.” In the Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, several women accused the R&B singer of sexual abuse and pedophilia. Copyright(c) 2019 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
