Carlos Santana is set to release a new EP, In Search of Mona Lisa, on January 25, through Concord Records. The EP, produced by Narada Michael Walden, features three new recordings. Santana’s website says the new tracks were inspired by “a magical and deeply personal experience Carlos had when he visited the Louvre Museum and set his eyes on Leonardo da Vinci’s beguiling masterpiece.” Santana said that a few months after he saw the famous painting of Mona Lisa, he awoke from a dream with lyrics in his head. “It was the first time that I ever woke up and lyrics were there in a tangible way. I could just grab them and write the songs,” he said about writing “Do You Remember Me” and “In Search of Mona Lisa.” The third song, “Lovers From Another Time,” features jazz bassist Ron Carter. This is Santana’s first record for Concord. In a press release announcing Santana’s signing, John Burk, president of Concord Records said, “We are thrilled to welcome Carlos to the Concord family and look forward to where his seemingly endless creativity, curiosity and passion take us.” Santana’s previous release was The Power of Peace, featuring his wife Cindy Blackman and the Isley Brothers, in 2017.
