Britney Spears has dismissed rumors that she is being held in a mental health facility against her will, which led to the emergence of the #FreeBritney hashtag. “Hi guys, just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me,” Spears said in a selfie video posted on Instagram. “All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. But don’t worry, I’ll be back very soon,” the pop star added. The clip was accompanied by a lengthy caption, which says she took to social media because things that are being said got out of control. “There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said,” Spears said. She advised her fans not to believe “everything you read and hear.” Spears checked into a mental health facility following the hospitalization of her father, Jamie Spears, with whom she is deeply close.
