The 2019 Billboard Music Awards airs Wednesday

The 2019 Billboard Music Awards returns to KSL TV on Wednesday night.

The awards show host, Kelly Clarkson, is ubiquitous this year. She is also a judge on NBC’s The Voice, stars in the movie “Ugly Dolls.” She is going to be hosting her own show on NBC this fall, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” This is Clarkson’s second time as the Billboard’s emcee.

Rapper Cardi B is nominee with twenty-one different looks, achieving twenty-one nominations in eighteen categories.

Post Malone has seventeen nominations this year. Drake also has seventeen awards up for grabs.

The record holder for the most wins in one Billboard night is Taylor Swift with 23 awards.

Mariah Carey is guaranteed one Billboard award on Wednesday night. She is set to receive the Icon Award.

For top artist, the nominees are Cardi B, Drake, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, and Travis Scott.

For top new artist, the nominees are Bazzi, Juice Wrld, Lil Baby, Dua Lipa, and Ella Mai.

This year’s female artist nominees are Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Ella Mai, and Taylor Swift.

This year’s top male artist nominees are Drake, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran, and XXXTentacion.

The battle for the Top Rock Tour award is between three A-listers with decades of musical gravitas: Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and U2.

The award for the top soundtrack is characteristically competitive. The movies honored with a nomination for the best musical track is “13 Reasons Why: Season 2,” “A Star is Born” by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper, “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and the circus show, “The Greatest Showman.”

The 2019 Billboard Music Awards airs on KSL TV on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m.
