Chart-topper Mariah Carey was honored at the Ivor Novellos in London on Thursday with a Special International Award acknowledging her as “an extraordinary global talent, an impactful songwriter and one of the biggest selling artists of all time.” During her career, Carey has penned 18 U.S. number one singles, including “Vision of Love,” “Hero,” “Fantasy” and “We Belong Together.” The Ivors Academy presented Ivor Novello Awards to 29 individual songwriters and composers across 14 award categories, 83 percent of whom were first time winners. “From heavyweights of rock, to gods of grime, jazz maestros to chart royalty; today’s celebrated music creators have been rightly recognized for their artistic merit and inspiring influence on their fellow creators,” said Ivors Academy Chair Crispin Hunt.
